Ice Cream

You know what Dan isn't good at?

Cooking. He can set water on fire. And since Clockwork is too busy at doing Master of Time things most of the time, I end up cooking mostly.

It's like full-body meditation, really. Everything is made from scratch. I'm thinking about getting one of those little hydroponic garden thingies for herbs, because the dried herbs are basically edible but tasteless dust. Also, a spice rack.

So I decided to make ice cream, which went over just fine until the point when Clockwork used half of it to make floats. They were good floats, but I wanted ice cream.

Hey, Daaaaaan? Let's go out for gelato.

This is the Way the World Ends

See, I found this story. It's creepy and amazing.

Go here to start reading.

And that got me thinking about science and the Hollow Men. The last words of the Hollow Men are:

This is the way the world ends,
This is the way the world ends,
This is the way the world ends,
Not with a bang but a whimper.

I've alway imagined it like a young girl, the kind who sings about mulberry bushes even though mulberries come from tress, picking the petals off a flower and singing this in the same tone they'd sing "This is the way the farmer rides, early in the morning."

Not that the woman who gave birth to me ever played Pat-a-cake, you understand.

But these hollow men, killing the world via apathy.

And now science also says the universe is going to end when gravity stops working like breaks on the expansion of the universe and the universe balloons without limit over distances so vast that even the best telescopes will not be able to map it. Just billions and billions of miles of empty nothing, with an occasional speck of matter, like a black hole or a dead star. All while a little girl is pulling the petals off a flower and singing . . . of course, you'll all be dead by then and I'm in the Ghost Zone where it doesn't matter. The end of the universe doesn't frighten me.

I almost became one of the hollow men. I would have become one of the hollow men if not for my Dan and my Clockwork. That is what frightens me.

. . . I need ice cream.

Freakshow was dreaming. He was quite sure of this, because he hadn't been small enough the the animal cages towered over him for years and years, and he had his wings.

He was, currently, looking at the corpses of his parents. Not the real bodies, the ones he'd killed when he was alive, but the ghost forms that he's least seen.

"No," he dropped the knife, the clatter abnormally loud on the tile floor. "This didn't happen."

"Frederich," said his mother, slowly sitting up. She seemed to be having difficulty, but so would he if his head was several feet from his body.

Freakshow took a step back.

"Boy," said his father, getting up so much more slowly. Possibly because quite a lot of his limbs were shredded.

"You promised," they said in unison. "And you lied."

"I didn't," said Freakshow.

"You lied. Your hands are bloody, you ripped out our hearts...how could you?"

But it hadn't happened like this. Maybe it could have, but he hadn't. He couldn't.

"We only ever wanted what was best for you."

"Liars!" shouted Freskshow.

"And you killed us."

"No! I didn't!"

"Frederich..."

"Freakshow!"

He woke up.

Well, I'm back. I know I was only gone for a month, but it felt a lot longer...

The Ghost Zone is even more starved for entertainment that the human world, and they all love Circus Gothica...it's weird, because people laugh here. I mean, it's the same show but where its dark and creepy in the human world, it's light and funny here. I was able to participate too, showing off the Chain Trick (which got encores!) and flying through rings of fire. Little did they know that fire doesn't hurt me...

I did find my parents.

And now the circus season is kind of over, so I'm home. Lydia's decided to stay with it and take it over. They're going south, to (I think) the Ghost Zone near Brazil. It's just spring there now. I asked if she was sure she didn't want to come back, but she insisted. I miss her.

Anything happen here while I was gone?

I will start off looking for my family, if you can call them that, and trying to fix things up with them. Maybe get them to perform for me if they understand just why I did what I did to them.
Freakshow padded through the lair softly, making sure not to wake anyone up.

Dear Clockwork,

He held a small piece of paper in his hand, making sure not to crumple it much, if at all, and held a flame in the other as to light his way.

I know that many material things do not matter to you, and that, no matter what I get, it's really the thought that counts and the fact that you already know about it ahead of time really doesn't make it any better.

He found himself outside of Clockwork's room soon, a soft breathing of sleep coming from inside.

So, as usual, it's hard to know what to get for you. Hell, you already know this, and everything I'm going to write in this letter.

He slowly pushed the door open, cringing a little as it creaked, but didn't seem to disturb the sleeping form.

But, that doesn't mean I shouldn't write it anyway.

He quietly placed the letter onto the nightstand beside Clockwork's bed, looking over his sleeping form, a smile forming on the ringmaster's face at the soft motion of his chest as he breathed softly.

So, on this Valentine's Day, all I can really think to do is remind you of a fact you already know. But I can't help remind you of it as often as I can.

He gently kissed Clockwork on the cheek, smiling as he then quietly walked out of the room.

I love you, and always will.

He closed the door behind him and began walking back to Dan's room.

Love, Freakshow

He put the flame out as soon as he got back in the room. Then, he snuggled in back beside Dan, sighing softly as he drifted back into his dreams.

P.S. I hid the chocolates I got for you so that Dan won't be able to find them and eat them all. I'm sure you'll have no trouble retrieving them. :) Happy V-Day.

Here, I have an announcement.
For any who have wondered, yes, me and Johnny are friends.
And if Dan can deal with it (Which by 'deal' I mean that he hasn't killed me OR Johnny) then you guys should be able to as well.

Sorry, Ember. I do have to mention I will never think of you badly, even if you think of me as such. I still consider you a friend, even if you feel I've betrayed you. And that thought is logical, and I won't protest.

So, yes, me and Johnny are friends. Deal.

He stood still watching him for a second, contemplating letting his dream continue or to go with his plan, before silently walking over and placing a hand to his shoulder, gently shaking him awake.
"Fredrich. It's time."
Fredrich opened his eyes only slightly, looking up at the other man.
"Time for what?"
"Time for your revenge."

Give me the strength.
Give me the strength to go on.
I have only one friend. One friend who stuck with me and wasn't decieving me.
One.
"You have me as well, Fredrich." Faux placed a comforting hand to his shoulder.
Fredrich looked up to stare into his eyes.
"But you're inside my head. That's different."
"Is it?"
"Well, why would you decieve me if you live inside me?"
"The mind plays tricks on people, Fredrich."
"But.."
"Shhh.." Faux placed a finger to his lips. "Just know that I'm on your side." He smiled and leaned closer. "And always will be." He placed his lips to the other's, running slender fingers down his jaw, neck, chest, arms.
He parted the kiss slightly. "How do I know you won't decieve me, too, Faux?"
"I'll show you..."

Faux gently pushed him to the ground, pressing his lips more firmly to the ghost's. Running his fingers along the bare chest once more, down to the stomach and running circles around his belly button.
"Faux..." he looked up at him with uncertain eyes.
"Shhh.." Faux merely shushed him gently before placing kisses down his neck, taking a nipple into his mouth, swirling his tongue around the hard flesh. Fredrich gasped out, feeling himself subconsciously arching into the touch.
"M-Master.." Faux then ran the thin fingers down into the black pants, feeling around inside until he found what he was looking for.
"Ah!" Fredrich gasped out, thrusting up gently to meet the touch. Faux smirked around the nipple before pulling back and firmly kissing him once more, silencing his gasps.
He began to lightly massage the hardening flesh with his fingers, feeling the sick satisfaction from just how much the other man trusted him. Lovng just how obedient he had become.
He tugged the pants off, lettign the darkness coat the man's ahrdened member. Fredrich cried out into the kiss as Faux ran a finger over the head and sped up his pumping.
Faux separated the kiss, working at his own clothes, taking the hood from his head, revealing a long firey ponytail. As he took the rest of his garments off, Fredrich couldn't help but notice the multiple scars all over the other man's body.
"How..?"
Faux looked up at him, smiling.
"Like you, I have been killed once before." Fredrich was silent for a moment before nodding.
Faux took his hand from Fredrich's cock and the other man groaned from the absense. "Shh... This will not take much longer."
"Please..Faux.." Faux manipulated the darkness in his hand, letting it swirl around his fingers before he pressed it into Fredrich's hole.
Fredrich gasped. It was cold, yet soothing. He thrust against the fingers, wanting more. Faux didn't take long to comply as he pushed another finger in, stretching the man.
He leaned down and whispered into Fredrich's ear.
"Do you want this?"
Fredrich looked up at him, his eyes trusting, pleading.
"Please..."
Faux smirked.
Such trust.
Such wonderfully beautiful trust.
That I will be glad to tear apart after I have had my revenge.
He chuckled slightly before pulling the fingers out and positioning himself.
"If you insist.."

Caen heard the scream. Not a scream of agony, but a scream of pleasure.
For some reason, he was hoping for the scream of agony.
But he felt too weak to even think about it, as his eyes closed, and he drifted into a long, deep sleep.
I'm sorry, Fredrich...

Day Five, Friendship

Faux watched the slumbering body in front of him, waiting for Fredrich to wake.
He had more memories to give him.
These memories wouldn't be as twisted, they would serve a purpose without him having to change them.

He silently walked over to where Caen lay, only half awake as his energy had been slowly depleting in the darkness.
"The memory with that boy..Johnny, I believe. I would like more memories of him." Caen looked up at him, attempting a glare, but was too tired.
"Why?"
"I'm being merciful and allowing him to have a few good memories."
"You wouldn't be merciful without some sort of gain, Faux." Caen spat, but with hardly any feeling. Faux smirked.
"You're smart. But you are also weak. So I suggest you give me what I want, or Fredrich will have no good memories."
"What about Dan and Clockwork?" Faux smiled.
"You'll find out about that later. But for now..." Faux then placed his hand to the child's forehead, extracting the memories he wanted.

Fredrich poked him in the cheek, bringing him back from his thoughts.
"Master?"
Faux looked up at him and forced a smile. "Good morning, Fredrich."
"Were you watching me while I was sleeping?" Fredrich smiled sweetly.
"As a matter of fact, I was." Faux chuckled. "And.. I do have a few good memories, after you died."
Fredrich's eyes slanted. "Nothing about Dan or Clockwork, I presume?"
"No, nothing about Dan or Clockwork.. It would seem you DID happen to have a close friend, in fact." Faux replied.
"Really?" Fredrich responded with excitement.
"Yes, let me show you." Faux placed a hand to his cheek, a soft caress before placing his fingers at the same spot between his eyes as before.

"I don't deserve a chance," he sighed, leaning in towards Freakshow. "You shouldn't be doing this for me. No matter how hot I am. Or how hot you are."
"But I CHOSE to do this." He let his fingers linger along his cheek and jawline.
He looked into Johnny's eyes.
"I can't help but want to make the pain go away."
Johnny closed his eyes and sighed, liking the way Freakshow's touch felt.
"The pain doesn't go away," he whispered. He reached up and touched the other man's face lightly. "Don't waste your time trying."
"I have all the time in the world. I can waste it however I choose." He said, before lightly pressing his lips to the other ghost's forehead.

He cried out in pleasure as he felt his wings get touched. "Oh, God!"
He felt Johnny push him to the bed and pulled him into another kiss.
Johnny continued the kiss while he reached up and touched the wings again, enjoying the reaction he'd gotten the first time. He stroked them, harder this time, waiting to see if it would work the way he'd hoped.
Freakshow cried out again, arching his back closer to his touches.
Again. Again. Oh, God.
He clenched his eyes shut, thrusting up to try and gain some contact.
"Johnny..."
He ran his hands across the wings and down Freakshow's back. "You like that?" he asked, his voice husky.
His breathing was ragged and he couldn't find the words. He merely nodded in response, his mind going crazy.
Oh, God. That voice.
Johnny grinned, evilly. "I'm sorry, I didn't hear you..." his hands found their way to Freakshow's ass and grabbed it, hard. "I asked if you liked the way I'm touching you. Do you?"
Freakshow cried out again. "Oh, God dammit, Johnny! Yes!" He yelped as he finally found the words.
Johnny scoffed. "That's better," he said. Then, he bent down and, still grabbing Freakshow's ass, licked lightly at one of the wings. "And how about that?"
He moaned softly, letting his eyes open to watch the other ghost.
"That sounded like a yes," Johnny said. He kissed Freakshow again, then continued kissing, running his lips down the man's neck.

"The real you is not what you try to make everyone think you are, Johnny. You're in denial of the real you. And the real you is the you who hurts from doing all these things. From hurting her. If you really wanted to hurt her, would you have even attempted to make her happy while she WAS with you? Would you have wanted her to come back, LET her come back, all those times?" He stared him straight in the eyes. "Denial will hurt you more than if you accept your feelings."
"All I can do is hurt people," he growled. "You don't know what you're talking about."
He eyed the blade. "Go ahead, stab me. Hurt me. It's all I deserve. If you don't hurt me, someone else will. You wanna know what the real me is like? Cut me open and see."
"Those are hurtful words, Johnny. Suicidal words." he suddenly had a thought. This talking would probably do nothing. Johnny was in complete denial.
"I have a much sharper blade to cut you with anyway." He whispered before firmly pressing his lips to Johnny's.
Johnny wanted to pull away from the kiss. He was SURE he wanted to pull away.
This was WRONG. Why was he doing this? Freakshow was supposed to slice him open, hurt him. Destroy him.
This wasn't right.
But he was still kissing back.
He had expected Johnny to push him away, expected him to force him back, call Shadow, do something.
But instead his kiss was returned, and he felt himself allowing the kiss to deepen.

Freakshow watched as Johnny ran his hands through his hair and then waited until he came back with the alcohol before speaking.
"Okay. As long as we don't have too much. Have any cups or are we drinking from the same bottle?"
"I'm drinking from the bottle," Johnny said. "I don't think I have any cups." He held the bottle out to Freakshow. "Just be careful, lightweight."
Freakshow smirked and took the bottle, gulping down a little bit of it before handing it back, letting his mind wander a little.

"Although, back then, I would have thought you were hot, but would have never admitted it." he then chuckled again.
Johnny blinked at that comment. "You think I'm hot now?" he asked.
"Yeah, you're hot, dumbass. Why would I say it if I didn't mean it?" He took the bottle from Johnny's hands and took another gulp.
"Unless you believe I have sex with guys I find ugly, then you're just a bit wierd."
"But you were drunk," Johnny said. "We both were. I figured that was your excuse too." He ran his hands through his hair again. "And, no offense, I don't think you're that hot."
Sheepishly, he added. "But...and you tell NOBODY this...you were damned good in bed."

"I will try to protect you, just as much as I'll try to protect the others." He then walked a few steps before turning back. "And I mean that."
"Don't," he argued. "I don't need somebody to protect me. I'm worried about you. And that's weird for me. So don't question it."
Freakshow felt a small smile forming on his face.

Faux took his fingers from Fredrich's forehead, as he slowly opened his eyes and stared up at Faux.
"That was a...very close friendship." Fredrich replied, a slight blush to his cheeks. Faux pressed a finger to the heated face and smiled.
"And a wonderful friendship it was indeed. I plan to let you go see him soon, once you heal enough."
"Really?" Fredrich asked with barely contained enthusiasm.
"Yes. But I must fullwarn you, that when you came back as a ghost, Dan and Clockwork told you lies about who killed you and claimed it was me. And you told Johnny this. You will have to sort out the truth for him when you see him." Freakshow nodded.
"I'll be glad to tell him the truth. He deserves to know." Faux smiled and pressed his lips to the man's forehead.
"Good. Now you must rest, child."
"Yes, Master."

"Master, did you get my memories back?"
"Yes, my child." He responded with a sigh.
"Really?!" Fredrich exclaimed, excitement in his eyes.
"Yes..." He looked away, a faked sadness.
"I-Is there something wrong, Master?" Fredrch asked, a bit of fear making him stammer.
"I don't believe you will enjoy these memories, my dear."
"Wha-what's wrong with them?" The fear was evident in his voice.
"Your life was.... not very enjoyable." he looked up, the fake concern flawless on his expressions as he gently placed a comforting hand to Fredrich's face.
"But... I... I have to know... Or I will remain nothing." Fredrich replied, leaning into the caress and placing his hands to Faux's.
"All right, my child, since you must." Faux forced himself not to smirk as he ran his hand over Fredrich's face, letting his fingers stop at his forehead, between his eyes. Fredrich closed his eyes and sighed with relief as Faux began to transfer some of the memories.

Another scream. Another punch. Another black eye. Another bloody nose.
"You're a fucking thief! And theives deserve to be punished!" Fredrich cried out as he braced himself for another punch. But it never came. His father stood up and spat on him, growling.
"Fucking little shit."
Fredrich didn't cry until he knew his father was out of hearing distance.

Freakshow smiled down at the bodies as he felt a new sense of freedom. He was free. He was finally free.
But his joy was soon gone as he heard a cry from behind him.
"Y-you killed them!" Lydia's eyes were wide with fear as she saw the blood.
"I found release." He muttered as he began to slowly walk towards her.
"You stay away from me!" Lydia cried as she flew away, leaving Freakshow alone and confused.

"I love you..." A mere whisper of a voice.
"Dan..."

Clockwork's eyes showed hardly any emotion as he handed Freakshow the doll.
"Think of it as a late birthday present."

"Say it again."
"I love you, Freakshow... I love you so *much*" Freakshow ignored the soft chuckle, not thinking anything of it.

"I've needed you for so long." Clockwork looked at him, his eyes full of drunken lust..
"As I you." He replied, his voice not very convincing, but maybe that was just the alcohol.

Freakshow hummed softly as he walked down the hall towards the kitchen. He suddenly heard voices in a nearby room, and was drawn to listen to the conversation inside.
"I hate him! Why do I have to put up with him?!" Dan. Who could he be talking about?
"I told you, Dan. be patient. It's almost time." Clockwork, sounding slightly annoyed.
"As long as we get rid of him soon, I don't mind. I don't see why you had to drag me into this."
"I needed to give you something to do, or else you'd end up burning down my kitchen." dan scoffed and then Freakshwo ehard footsteps.
As Dan walked out, his eyes widened for a second before he covered up his surprise. "Freakshow?"
"Who were you two talking about?" Freakshow asked, curious.
"Oh, no one. Just an old friend." Dan replied, smiling and waving the subject away as he walked down the hall to his room.

Pain. Deep, harsh, awful pain.
He weakly looked behind him to find himself staring into Clockwork's eyes. The staff in his chest quickly being stained with blood.
"M-me?" Freakshow choked out.
"You." Clockwork's eyes slanted as a smirk rose to his face.
Dan stood still in front of Freakshow and simply stared back at him, emotionless, as Freakshow looked at him with pleading eyes.
Dan made no move to stop Clockwork as the time master roughly pulled the staff from Freakshow's form and pushed his body to the ground.
Freakshow felt the tears stain his eyes as he watched their gazes. Their watchful stares.
"Why me?" Freakshow muttered before he closed his eyes.
Darkness. Complete and utter darkness.

"No more!" Fredrich cried out as he shoved Faux's hands away, tears streaming down his cheeks.
"I tried to tell you, Fredrich, but you insisted." Fredrich's sobs grew louder and Faux expressed fake sadness and concern as he wrapped his arms around Fredrich's shaking form. "I'm sorry."
"Not... your fault." He sniffed, wiping at his tears. "You didn't... do it."
Faux smirked as he whispered into the ghost's ear.
"I'll never leave you. I'll protect you from them."
"Stay with me."
"Of course." Faux sighed to cover up his urge to laugh.
As Fredrich's sobs died down, Faux pulled away to stare into his eyes.
"After you came back as a ghost, you had lost all your memory. So Dan and Clockwork continued the act like they loved you." He ran a hand along Fredrich's cheek and down an arm. "I'm sure they planned to send you to Oblivion this time. I had to get you away. You must understand."
"You're the only one left you cares, aren't you?"
"I may possibly be."
"Do you love me?"
"I deeply care about you." Faux responded, letting his hands run across the bare chest and massage the arms once again as he placed his lips to the ghost's.
Fredrich sighed deeply before letting his arms wrap around Faux's neck, returning the kiss.
Faux smiled as he felt the last of the fire cross between them before he parted the kiss.
"You should sleep, child."
"Yes, Master."
